Meet Nicole

Hi!  I’m Nicole Wright, the late night, cram-as-much-crafting-into-one-day-as-humanly-possible wife and stay-at-home mommy behind “Shabby Beach Nest”.  I am lucky enough to live in one of the most gorgeous beach towns in the world; Laguna feeds my soul, and a small part of this artistic haven is poured into each piece that I design.

I don’t do this for the money; I simply must create or I’d explode!  I’m sure other artisans understand when I say that imagination is my addiction, my drug of choice.  The fact that I can now share my creativity with the world – as well as meet other creative souls just like me – is pure bliss.

A big part of who I am is not only my creativity, but also my family.  I fell in love with Alex the moment I saw his smile during my freshman year of high school, and harbored a serious crush from afar until I actually got up the nerve to introduce myself the next year.  Twelve years later he is not only my husband and the love of my life, but also my “Craftaholic Enabler”.

Alex and I welcomed our first child almost four years ago – a vivid, dramatic, extraordinary, (and extremely precocious) little nutball named Maddy.  She not only keeps us on our toes, she’s a born entertainer and comedian… just like her daddy.  If Alex is the love of my life, then Maddy is most definitely my heart and soul.

I also have a four and five-year-old that I’m insanely in love with. They kept me grounded when my husband was serving in Iraq, and enjoy long walks on the beach as much as I do. They also like eating crumbs off the floor and being leashed to my bicycle for our daily bike rides.

I’m talking about my dogs, of course! Yukon and Valentine are the two shelter huskies that complete our family. Although they are as different as night and day, they are also born entertainers that are constantly cracking us up in one way or another. I couldn’t imagine our lives without them.

I hope that you’re able to find some inspiration here on my blog, and maybe a laugh or two along the way.  My journey through life has already taken me through so much – good times, bad times, even some down right odd times where I wanted to scream, “Am I being punked?!”  But through it all I’ve been able to find many unexpected delights.  By sharing these diversely quilted moments I hope to not only encourage, but also inspire my readers.

So… it’s a pleasure to meet you.  =]

Hi, Nicole – Great blog. I have visited Laguna Beach and loved it. One of my favorite places in CA. It is a very inspiring place. I live in Ohio – rather land-locked.

Thanks Debbie!! After my family, this blog takes up most of my time and effort, so I truly appreciate the compliment. I love Laguna, as well!! But I have to admit, I’d love to be in Ohio, as well! All those historic, weathered places (old barns and Victorian houses) fascinate and inspire me just as much. ^_^
