Hi! I’m Nicole Wright, the late night, cram-as-much-crafting-into-one-day-as-humanly-possible wife, mommy, and full-time worker bee behind “Shabby Beach Nest”. I was lucky enough to be raised in one of the most gorgeous beach towns in the world; Laguna feeds my soul, and a small part of this artistic haven is poured into each piece that I design.
I don’t do this for the money; I simply must create or I’d explode! I’m sure other artisans understand when I say that imagination is my addiction, my drug of choice. The fact that I can now share my creativity with the world – as well as meet other creative souls just like me – is pure bliss.
A big part of who I am is not only my creativity, but also my family. I fell in love with Alex the moment I saw his smile during my freshman year of high school, and harbored a serious crush from afar until I actually got up the nerve to introduce myself the next year. Fifteen years later he is not only my husband and the love of my life, but also my “Craftaholic Enabler”.
Alex and I welcomed our first child six years ago – a vivid, dramatic, extraordinary, (and extremely precocious) little nutball named Madison. She not only keeps us on our toes, she’s a born entertainer and comedian… just like her daddy. Our second child will be born this November, a little boy we plan on naming Maverick. And if the name didn’t clue you in, we have a feeling he is going to be a rebel (he’s been rebelling against me this entire pregnancy, lol). If Alex is the love of my life, then Maddy and Maverick are most definitely my heart and soul.
I also have a nine-year-old that I’m insanely in love with. She kept me grounded when my husband was serving in Iraq, and she enjoys long walks on the beach as much as I do. She also likes eating crumbs off the floor and being leashed to my bicycle for our daily bike rides.
I’m talking about my dog, of course! Valentine is the shelter husky that completes our family. Although she’s not as much of a spaz as she was in her youth, she is also a born entertainer that is constantly cracking us up in one way or another. I couldn’t imagine our lives without her.
I hope that you’re able to find some inspiration here on my blog, and maybe a laugh or two along the way. My journey through life has already taken me through so much – good times, bad times, even some down right odd times where I wanted to scream, “Am I being punked?!” But through it all I’ve been able to find many unexpected delights. By sharing these diversely quilted moments I hope to not only encourage, but also inspire my readers.
So… it’s a pleasure to meet you. =]
